About the event

Becoming an AHA Instructor is aprocess; there are multiple steps involved, all set in place to gauge your commitment level and ability to follow instruction. Teaching lifesaving skills to the public is a huge responsibility taken very seriously by the American Heart Association, myself, and fellow Instructors.

Prerequisites
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a current AHA BLS Provider card (only AHA BLS cert accepted)
  • Demonstrate mastery in BLS and HS skills (must be correctly demonstrated during the Instructor course): 1 and 2-rescuer Adult BLS, Use of Bag-valve mask, Use of Pocket mask, Use of AED, 1 and 2-rescuer Infant BLS, Lay rescuer Adult, Child and Infant CPR/AED (Heartsaver CPR), Removing Gloves (Heartsaver First Aid), Finding the Problem (Heartsaver First Aid), Using an Epinephrine Pen (Heartsaver First Aid), Stopping Bleeding and Bandaging (Heartsaver First Aid)
  • Interview with Any Day CPR Training Center Administrator (Shirley)
Instructor Course Overview

The American Heart Association BLS/HS Instructor 2-Day Course will allow participants to teach all American Heart Association BLS level certification classes as well as the Heartsaver CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, Pediatric First Aid CPR AED, and Friends & Family CPR.

In addition to the steps below, all participants must possess a valid BLS Provider (or Heartsaver First Aid CPR/AED-if only teaching HS) certification card. Once all steps are successfully completed, the participant will become an American Heart Association Instructor and able to conduct classes on their own.

Steps to Become an Instructor

Step 1: Simple Phone Interview

Email info@anydaycpr.com to set up your call to discuss your interest in becoming an instructor. During this call, we will learn more about your goals, discuss the instructor course skills mastery requirements, and ensure you completed/can complete your prerequisites.

Step 2: Application Process

  • Download the AHA Instructor application from our website, complete the first two portions, and sign the Instructor Commitment section.
  • Send this application to info@anydaycpr.com so we can complete the TC Alignment section. If you already have a TC that you want to affiliate with, please have them sign this section. We must have an authorized signature in the TC Alignment section to proceed with registration.
  • Have your most recent AHA BLS Instructor fill out the Instructor Potential section if available (we can do this if your previous instructor is not available).
  • Send your resume and/or curriculum vitae along with the completed instructor candidate application.

Costs:

  • $525.00: Course Instruction Day 1 and Teachback & Administrative Practice Day 2. Instructor online Essentials, AHA Instructor videos and manuals, teaching equipment (manikins, bag masks, pocket masks, one way valves, and instructor eCard need to be purchased separately. Training Center Alignment fee not included.
  • $2205.00: Includes course instruction Day 1 and 2, BLS Instructor eCard, BLS Instructor Essentials (online), BLS Provider Manual, BLS Instructor Manual, BLS Videos, Prestan Take-Two Kit with feedback device (2 Adult Manikins, 2 Infant Manikins, 2 AED Trainers, 2 Adult Bag Mask, 2 Infant Bag Mask, 6 Adult Face Mask, 6 Infant Face Mask, 50 One-way valves).
  • $2070.00: Includes all of the above without HS materials.
  • $1320.00: Includes all of the above without Prestan Manikins.
  • $1095.00: Classroom instruction Day 1 & Day 2 with BLS Instructor materials only.
  • $350.00: For current Any Day CPR instructors renewing but did not teach the required courses in the last 2 years.

Step 3: Instructor Course

This experience helps prepare you to succeed as an American Heart Association CPR instructor. The class will be held at 6401 Eldorado Parkway, #328, McKinney, TX 75070. Directions to this location will be included in your pre-course materials. This intensive course familiarizes instructor candidates with:

Upon the successful completion of the prerequisites, the Instructor Course, and class monitoring, you will receive your AHA BLS or Heartsaver Instructor card.
